MealCraft — Plan. Prep. Plate.

MealCraft is a meal-planning app provided by Maina Njoroge, an individual developer. There is no company behind it. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean that individual, and "you" means the person using the app.

By using MealCraft you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the app and delete your account.

1. What MealCraft does

MealCraft helps you plan meals, build shopping lists, scale portions, track a pantry and log what you eat. It is a planning and organisation tool.

2. MealCraft is not medical, dietary or nutritional advice

This matters, so it is not buried. MealCraft lets you record dietary preferences, allergens and calorie goals, and it displays nutrition figures. Those figures come from recipe data and, for photo scans, from an AI estimate. They are estimates, not measurements, and they can be wrong.

Do not rely on MealCraft for any decision where accuracy matters medically. In particular:

Allergies: allergen flags are a convenience filter over third-party recipe data. Always read the actual ingredients and packaging yourself. MealCraft must never be your only allergen check.
Medical conditions: if you are managing diabetes, an eating disorder, kidney disease, pregnancy, or any condition where intake matters clinically, talk to a qualified health professional. MealCraft is not one.
Food safety: cooking times, temperatures and storage guidance in recipes come from third parties and are not verified by us.

3. Your account

You need an account to use the app. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for what happens under your account. Please give accurate details — an email address you can actually receive mail at, in particular, since that is how account recovery works.

You can permanently delete your account at any time from the Setup tab in the app. Deletion is immediate and irreversible: your account and the data on your device are removed and we cannot restore them. We may also suspend or remove an account that is being used to abuse the service or break these terms.

4. Your content

Recipes you import, photos you attach, and the plans and logs you create are yours. You keep all rights in them. You grant us only the narrow permission needed to operate the app for you — for example, sending a photo you chose to scan to our AI provider so it can be read, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Do not upload content you do not have the right to use, or content that is unlawful.

5. Recipe content from third parties

Most of the recipe library is fetched from TheMealDB, a third-party service, and much of that content is attributed to other publishers. We do not own it, we do not verify it, and it is provided to you as it comes. TheMealDB is a free service with no service-level guarantee: when it is unavailable, part of the library is simply not there, and the app says so rather than pretending otherwise.

6. AI features

Photo recipe import and the meal scan send the image you choose to an AI provider (Anthropic) which returns a suggested reading. These features:

run only when you explicitly start them;
produce estimates that you are shown and can edit before anything is saved;
may be unavailable, may refuse, and may be wrong;
are subject to a monthly usage allowance per account.

Nothing is written to your food log unless the app receives a successful result and you confirm it.

7. Subscriptions and payment

Paid subscriptions are not switched on. As of the date above, MealCraft does not charge for anything, and the server declines any request that could result in a charge. The rest of this section describes how paid plans will work if and when they are enabled — it is not a statement that you are being billed today.

When paid plans are enabled:

Prices are shown in the app before you subscribe. Prices displayed in other currencies are conversions for your convenience; the amount actually charged is the one your payment provider or app store shows you at the point of purchase.
A subscription begins with a free trial. No card details are taken to start it. Partway through the trial you are asked for a card in order to continue; if you do not add one, the trial ends and the account returns to the free tier. There is never a charge without a card you added.
If you added a card, the subscription starts charging at the end of the trial and renews automatically until cancelled. You are told this at the point you add the card.
Subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play are managed and cancelled in your device's subscription settings. Only Apple or Google can cancel them — we cannot, and deleting your MealCraft account does not cancel them.
Refunds for store purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.

To be completed before launch: the statutory cooling-off / cancellation rights that apply to consumers in the jurisdictions MealCraft is sold in have not been confirmed, and are deliberately not stated here rather than guessed. This paragraph must be replaced with the correct wording before paid plans are switched on.

8. Availability

MealCraft is provided as it is, without any guarantee of uptime or of continued availability. Features may change or be removed. There is no service-level agreement and no guaranteed support response time — see Support for what you can actually expect.

Data you create is stored on your device. MealCraft does not currently back it up or sync it between devices, so clearing your browser data or reinstalling the app will remove it permanently. Keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose.

9. Acceptable use

Please do not: break the law with the app; try to bypass the paid tiers or usage allowances; attack, overload or probe the service; scrape or resell the recipe library; or use the AI features to process content you have no right to.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of MealCraft, or for loss of data stored on your device. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right you have that cannot be excluded or limited by law — including, where they apply to you, consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision, and material changes will be announced in the app.

To be completed before launch: governing law and jurisdiction are deliberately left blank. MealCraft's prices are set in Australian dollars, but the developer's place of residence for legal purposes has not been confirmed for this document, and naming the wrong jurisdiction is worse than naming none.
